For those of us who’ve never built a home before, it’s a learn-as-you-go process. For the Gurney gang, it’s definitely Home-building 101.
Things have finally started, though, which truly seems like a miracle. The 10 acres we purchased almost 3 years ago has been long paid for. The pipe fence is up with a super-cool entrance Josh welded and painted himself. The gravel trucks have come and gone. The walking trails through our woods are evident – they’ve been formed with love, lots of tramping, cruising on Gators, and riding on tractors.
We’ve been patient.
Living in a tiny two-bedroom trailer house was only supposed to last months. Instead, it’s been years. BUT, there is now light at the end of the tunnel.
There have been some interesting set-backs, most recently storms and tornadoes. Wet ground tends to cause havoc for concrete trucks.
This week we’re HOPING to get the stem wall capped off and the pad finished. If we’re really lucky, the framer will begin, too. However, the weathermen don’t seem to be too cooperative. So, every one of you say a collective prayer and cross your fingers and legs for the Gurney Gang.
I can’t take much more of this trailer. I may lose my mind and forget how to take photos all-together. Then where will you be?
